About the Event

Go Dark! Celebrate International Dark Sky Week and join us under the 30 ft dome of the state-of-the-art Digistar planetarium at Montgomery College/TPSS.

The Dark Sky movement is about more than what we can see in the night sky; it’s also about human health and thriving ecosystems. Joining us for a presentation is Robinne Gray, a volunteer with DarkSky MD, who discuss the importance of safeguarding the natural darkness of night and local efforts n support of dark skies.

Planetarium Director Carrie Fitzgerald will reveal the night sky above Takoma Park, beyond the light pollution, by introducing you to the constellations on the planetarium dome and the effect light pollution has on your view of the night sky. We will also enjoy a film from DarkSky International.
